As the largest independently owned electrical wholesale distributor in Southwestern Ontario, Electrozad offers a full range of electrical products, services, and solutions from some of the premier manufacturers and suppliers in Canada and the United States. In addition, through a portfolio of consulting services, Electrozad enables our customers to leverage smart manufacturing solutions to increase productivity, inform key decision making, and mitigate potential risk.

As a 'one-stop-shop' total source for our customer's electrical and automation needs, we offer extensive experience, flexibility, technical support, delivery, U.S border crossing service and project coordination. Electrozad was incorporated in the City of Windsor in 1955. Our full line stocking facilities are located in Chatham, Sarnia, Windsor and two locations in London, Ontario. We provide service and support to the Automotive, Contractor, Construction, Food & Beverage, Machine Tool OEM markets, Petrochemical, as well as, many other industries.


OUR HISTORY



Early 1950's

Joseph Ozad leaves his full time job at Demers Electric with the promise of managing a new Westinghouse Electric branch in Windsor. The company ultimately decides not to open a location, leaving Joseph without a job. With his prior experience in the electrical industry, Mr.Ozad decides to establish his own business.

While traveling to Detroit in order to fill orders, Mr. Ozad meets Sam Newman, the owner of Puritan Electric. When Mr. Ozad learns of Newman’s desire to establish a business in Canada, the pair become partners. Established in the electrical industry, Mr. Newman brings to th ebusiness many key industry suppliers and it is through these contacts that Electrozad becomes the first independent electrical distributor in Windsor, Ontario, Canada.

1955

In April 1955, Joseph Ozad incorporates the company and Electrozad Supply Company Limited is born.

1956

The business aligns with well-known automation company, Allen-Bradley, to become the first distributor of their product line east of the Manitoba border. Business growth prompts the need for Electrozad to hire its first salesperson, Bryan Smith.

1961

The company expands its boundaries with the opening of a location in Sarnia, a market rich in petrol-chemical opportunity. Electrozad Supply Co. (Sarnia) Limited is established to provide service to customers of the ‘Chemical Valley.

1971

Electrozad Supply Co. (London) Limited opens its doors to become the third branch of the company. The London location services the growing automotive, institutional, and food and beverage industries in the area.

1972

Electrozad joins Copel, an organization that unites 16 of Canada’s leading electrical distributors.The consortium enables the companies to combine resources, experience, and purchasing volume to compete more effectively with national distributors.

1977

Bryan Smith purchases the company from Mr. Ozad and Mr. Newman and as president, plays a significant role in the expansion of Electrozad’s product line and growth into additional markets.

1978

The Electrozad founder, Joseph Ozad, passes away.

1982

The board of directors announces the appointment of Bryan Smith as Chairman of the Board,and William C. Smith as President.

1986

The Windsor location expands and moves into an updated, modern facility with state-of-the-art training capabilities for the staff and customers to be educated on new product information.

A new branch of the company opens in Chatham in order to service the mixed industrial community of Chatham-Kent.

1987

Electrozad Windsor is honoured by the City of Windsor with a Civic Beautification Award.

1991

London opens its second branch in order to to provide service from a convenient location in the city’s vibrant and diverse downtown core. The addition involves the acquisition of Ellis &Howard, another independent electrical distributor.

Electrozad Windsor receives two distinct honours including Company of the Year by the Windsor and District Chamber of Commerce Business Excellence Awards, and the Chrysler Q-1Award for commitment to quality and excellence.

1992

Electrozad’s Chairman of The Board, Bryan Smith, passes away.

1993

As a member of Copel, Electrozad joins Affiliated Distributors and becomes part of the largest electrical marketing group in North America.

Sarnia receives a Business Achievement Award from the Sarnia Chamber of Commerce.

1996

A centralized computer system is installed connecting all of the locations to achieve a seamless flow of business transactions.

Windsor is honoured by Chrysler Canada with the Chrysler Gold Pentastar Award in recognition of superior performance as a supplier.

1999

The ISO 9002 Quality Management System Certificate of Registration by KPMG is achieved at all locations.


2001

Company President, William Smith, wins an AD Recognition of Excellence Award for his consistent dedication to Electrozad and the industry as a whole.

2006

London relocates from their location on Colborne street to Adelaide Street North.

2008

Electrozad is honoured by AD, earning the Affiliate of the Year Award for Canada at their annual North American meeting.

2012

Stelpro awards Electrozad with their Recognizing Excellence Award for Outstanding Performance.

2014

Centerline recognizes Electrozad with an award for supporting the development and creation ofthe Donald Beneteau Center of Excellence.

Habitat For Humanity of Windsor present Electrozad with a Windsor-Essex Community Partner Award for their years of support to the Habit Annual Builds.

2015

Affiliated Distributors awards William C. Smith the Member of the Year for Leadership Award attheir North American Meetings Awards Banquet.

2016

Electrozad is recognized by the Windsor-Essex Chamber of Commerce earning their Business Excellence Award for Mid-Size Company of the Year.

2017

William C. Smith is recognized by Electro-Federation Canada receiving their Industry Recognition Award.

2018

Electrozad Supply Company is recognized for overall business performance and sustained growth with the prestigious Canada’s Best Managed Companies designation.

2020

Electro-Federation Canada Marketing Award winner for Digital Innovation in the Distributor over $50M category and winner of the Corporate Member Engagement Award in recognition of outstanding contribution and support to the association.

2021

Electro-Federation Canada Award winner for Digital Innovation and Virtual Event in the Distributor over $50M category. Electrozad recognized as Gold Standard winner with the prestigious Canada's Best Managed Companies.

2022

Announces new executive appointments, William C. Smith, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, John Jenner, Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer, James Taylor, President.
